lilies.

I'm on the verge of a pretty big change in my day-to-day life. Combine that with our impending departure for Shanghai and my to do list is almost as long as my arm.

These lilies were bought for our Easter festivities and I swear they're the best flowers we've ever had in our apartment. (I really wish that the internet had smell-o-vision right now, so that you could experience how amazing they smell, too.) So pardon me for getting all Georgia O'Keeffe up in here but there really are times when you need to stop and photograph smell the flowers.

P.S. More details on the things that are a-changing when the details are a little more solid.

fallin' for autumn.

Ya, lame title, so shoot me. Autumn is still my second true love these days, so I took a few photos to remember it by when it starts to pour rain, which it probably will, any day now. I think this fall is trying to make up for our lackluster summer. Lately, it's been bright and crisp ... perfect for lunchtime walks and impressive colours.

on my way to ...

... my house. I snapped these while Nick and I walked back from returning a co-op car this weekend. It was a perfect fall day, crisp but sunny, perfect for taking photos.

the motherland from a moving car.

Every time I come back to Alberta, I'm struck with how beautiful it is. Maybe it's because I grew up here, but I don't think so. The colours are magnificent, especially this year, with all of the rain.

But, I'll let you be the judge.

our flowering world.

I mentioned in a small joys post from about two weeks ago that I had just got a book back from the printer that I was pretty proud of. Here are a few more pictures, just because I think the photography is amazing (it was done by the author, not me) and because maybe I feel like bragging, just a little!

Dear Alberta skies,
You are beautiful. That is all.

summer in a jar.

This lemony-minty water was lovely in the fridge last week. Refreshing and pretty!

gramps.

As I mentioned before, I've been scanning photos for my family. They've really been making me miss my Gramps whose birthday would have been today. So here are a few of those photos. Miss ya, Gramps!

P.S. Happy Friday!

family photos.

{Gramps during what I'd guess is World War II.}
Yesterday I received a package of family photos (from my mom's side) that I had volunteered to scan so that everyone can have copies. It is what I do for a living so I'd love to put together a little book through iPhoto or something for everyone. In the meantime, check out these two gorgeous ones! My mom looks so sweet and young in the photo below, it breaks my heart.

{My mom, looking so sweet!}

on my way to ...

The grocery store! I took these ten days ago but they didn't make it onto my little space here until now. The tulips are going, going, gone right now, but they'll make way for all the greenery of summer.

tulip love. {part two.}

Last week, I took a bunch of photos of tulips because there is an amazing variety in our neighbourhood right now. Here is part two of that series. They just mean that we're hopefully getting closer and closer to summer!
