read: stanley park.
A few months ago I started a book club with a group of girlfriends. We had our first meeting a few weeks ago and I think it was pretty darn successful. We decided that a theme instead of a chosen book was the way to go and that the person hosting that month got to pick the theme. The first theme picked was books set in BC so I finally read Stanley Park by Timothy Taylor, a book I'd been meaning to read since I moved to Vancouver three years ago. It was a truly great read filled with tales of really local food and the relationships between father and son. I love a good book and get even more excited about it when I can pick out places that I've been in the story. All in all, highly recommended. Next month, in honour (or in solidarity) of the current political upheaval in the Middle East and North Africa we're reading books with a political slant. I've picked Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I only have about ten days to start and finish it, so off I go!
