read: the lotus eaters.

I recently finished The Lotus Eaters by Tatjana Soli. It was a really good, if heavy read. I didn't find myself relating to the main character (which was weird since she's a photographer and a reluctant feminist) but the story was really compelling. The main character, Helen, is one of very few female photo journalists during the Vietnam War. She's conflicted by why she is in Vietnam and what it means to find that you're more comfortable in a war ravaged country than your own homeland. She also finds herself in a bit of a love triangle, which makes the story extra interesting. This book will make you think but it didn't pull me in very strongly.
