on quiet.

As a city-dweller, I so rarely hear pure silence. (Is that an oxymoron?) There is always the noise of neighbours, lawn mowers, the fridge and the cars. So many cars. But sometimes, it's worth listen to the cacophony of tiny sounds instead of music, TV, the phone ...

This afternoon, I've had some unexpected time to sit, drink tea and eat raspberries. Even though I can't have pure silence, the almost quiet has done a wonderful job of restoring calm. It only makes me wish I could have more slivers of time like this! Instead, I'll work to enjoy what I have: the perfect temperature, tart (and cheap) raspberries and the bit of Chinese tea we brought back with us, and the almost quiet.
