small joys.*

1. On Saturday we went on a little day trip to Gibsons, the highlight being lunch at Smitty's Oyster House. We ate really excellent seafood and drank fantastic BC wine and were served by a hilariously rude (in a charming way) server. We were also subject to a fly by seagull bombing (read: the table was pooped on), but that's supposed to be good luck, right?! A Gibsons' day trip is highly recommended if you're visiting Vancouver.
2. When I got home from work on Tuesday night I discovered freshly baked cheese and herb biscuits. They were a delight to come home to on a busy day.

3. Vancouver really showed it's true colours this week after Wednesday's mortifying riot. A whole bunch of regular old people went out to clean downtown up after the big mess that was made. That's what Vancouver is really about.

4. Matt and Shazma, some friends from Edmonton, stayed with us this weekend. They were great guests and we had a really wonderful time with them! I was sad to see them go. (They're seen above running along the seawall because they're training for a half marathon!)

5. A first taste of micro greens that Nick is growing at home and at work. They were delicious!
P.S. Check out the update on Friday's post. We went through downtown on Saturday so I snapped a few post-riot photos.
